“Ceramic coating” and “paint correction” get used almost interchangeably, but they solve two different problems. Knowing the difference saves you money and gets you the finish you actually want.
Paint correction fixes the paint
Over time, washing, drying, and the sun leave your clear coat full of fine swirl marks, scratches, and oxidation. Paint correction is the process of machine-polishing those defects out to restore gloss and clarity. It is corrective — it repairs what is already there.
- One-step enhancement removes lighter swirls and boosts gloss. Our one-step starts at $150.
- Two-step correction removes moderate to heavy defects for a much deeper, mirror finish. Our two-step starts at $250.
Ceramic coating protects the paint
Ceramic coating does not fix defects — it protects the surface going forward. It bonds to the clear coat and adds a hard, hydrophobic layer that repels water and dirt, resists UV and chemicals, and makes every future wash easier. Our coatings start at $799 (2-year) and $1,199 (5-year).
Here’s the key: do correction first
A coating locks in whatever is underneath it. If you coat over swirls, you seal the swirls in for years. That is why the best results come from correcting first, then coating. Our 5-Year Ceramic + Paint Correction package (from $1,499) does exactly that in one appointment, and our Premium Protection Package bundles a full detail with it.
Which should you choose?
- Paint looks dull or swirled, but you’re not ready to spend on protection? Start with paint correction.
- Paint is in good shape and you want it to stay that way? A ceramic coating is the move.
- You want the best possible finish that lasts for years? Do both — correction then coating.
